971 Players Make Themselves Available for Auction

With the IPL 2020 nearing its start, the players are making themselves ready for one of the premier cricket leagues in the world.

The IPL 2020 has recently made the headlines due to its trade window. During it, a lot of players weren’t re-selected by their team and were ‘let go’. Despite this, the chances of them being signed to play for new teams are high as the IPL 2020 Auction Day draws near. With this, teams are expected to shell out a large sum of money. The auction is scheduled to take place on December 19.

Prior to the event, 971 players have made themselves available for auction to be part of the tournament. Of those, 713 are Indians and 258 are overseas players. In the race to fill up the remaining 73 spots, 215 capped players, 754 uncapped players and two players from Associate Nations are also hoping they get selected.

Among the Indian players, 19 are capped while 634 are uncapped. There are also 60 uncapped Indian players who have played in at least one IPL game. The overseas lot, who has garnered much attention since the tournament’s inception, comprises 196 capped internationals and 60 uncapped ones.

All IPL franchises will have to submit a shortlist of players what will comprise the Player Auction before December 9. Australia has the highest number of players (55) who are slated for the IPL 2020 auction, followed by South Africa (54) and Sri Lanka(39). West Indies (34), England (22) and New Zealand (24) also have a few players that are registered for the tournament.

Among all the franchises, the Kings XI Punjab has the most amount of unused money. They are followed by the Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are expected to be one of the busiest franchises since they have 12 slots to fill.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India contested during March or April and May of every year by eight teams representing eight different cities in India. To find out more about the IPL, visit Betwala’s page.
