KKR player Ali Khan has also been ruled out of IPL 2020 despite being signed as a replacement for Harry Gurney.
Ali Khan is the first American player to have been signed up for the IPL. He was signed as a replacement for Harry Gurney who had to undergo a shoulder injury. As he had also sustained an injury, Khan, too, has been ruled out of the league’s entirety.
An official statement from the IPL read, ‘Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season’. The league, however, did not disclose any details concerning Khan’s nature of injury.
Khan had been signed up by the Kolkata Knight Riders as they share the same parent company with the Caribbean Premier League’s Trinbago Knight Riders. In the CPL which had been played from August to September, Khan had taken eight wickets in the eight matches that he had played.
The 29-year-old had played with TBK where they had won all of their 12 matches to seal the title in the CPL. Meanwhile, Khan has still been unable to find a place in the KKR’s XI for the past four games that had already been played for the season. Still, losing Khan in their roster of players is a huge blow for the team as he was supposed to replace Gurney.
So far, the team has four points and is currently placed at the fourth spot in the points table. KKR’s next game will be played against the Kings XI Punjab at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. To know more about these teams and the IPL, head over to Betwala.
