The co owner of the franchise said that the team is likely to retain their previous captain
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) Director Anil Kumble spoke about his uncertainty regarding Ravichandran Ashwin’s captaincy in the next season of the Indian Premier League. Co-owner Ness Wadia said that the KXIP will likely to retain the captain of the previous season.
‘We have not decided that yet. Some decisions need to be made but we don’t need to decide at this moment. IPL is still five months away. There is an auction coming up, we will start to build a squad around that as well. Ashwin had a wonderful two years but of course we did not get the right results but we have not made any decision who the captain will be’, Kumble said.
Kumble worked with the Men in Blue until he stepped down in 2017. He has also worked with two IPL teams, the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.
R. Ashwin is currently in the Test squad of the Indian Cricket Team for the home series against South Africa. The team is slated to play the third and final Test match on October 19 in Ranchi.
