Aside from the matches, the announcement of those who made it to the contract list of Cricket Australia had also been deferred amid COVID-19.
All Australian cricket matches had been put on hold due to the global outbreak of COVID-19. In line with that, the announcement of the contracted players which was set on March or April had also been delayed.
The announcement of the contracted players from Cricket Australia which are annually held in March aims to give more clarity towards the state associations. However, due to the virus outbreak, a financial uncertainty looms over the board which adds up to the reasons for the announcement delay.
‘Given the uncertainty around what's happening around the world at the moment, it makes sense to take a minute, take a breath and work out what we're dealing with and what potential impacts it might have for the game moving forward’, said Australia women’s captain Meg Lanning.
To date, Australia has called off all cricket events which involved their players both in domestic and international matches. Aside from that, the fate of the ICC’s T20 World Cup which was set in Australia this coming October also remains uncertain due to the global situation.
