Delhi Capitals has signed up Anrich Nortje as a replacement for Chris Woakes in the upcoming season of IPL.
Chris Woakes may be recalled to have pulled out of the IPL to make himself available for England. Aside from that, another reason why Woakes made himself uncommitted to IPL 2020 is that he and his wife are expecting a baby in September.
With that, the Delhi Capitals decided to sign up fast bowler Anrich Nortje as a replacement for Woakes. In the 2019 season of the IPL, Nortje has been signed up by the Kolkata Knight Riders before a shoulder injury ruled him out of the game. With that, his upcoming games with the Delhi Capitals will serve as his maiden appearance in the well-renowned league.
Talking about his new team, Nortje says, ‘I am excited to join the Delhi Capitals, a team that was the talk of the tournament last season. With its exciting mix of experienced and young players, and a stellar coaching line up, there is no doubt this is going to be a massive learning experience for me. I am grateful to the Delhi Capitals management for giving me this opportunity’.
