Both players are expected to face each other in Old Trafford Test
Batsman Steve Smith recently stated that Archer has yet to out him after the incident in the Lord’s Test match. Smith was rested in the recent Leeds Test because of his injury from one of Archer’s bouncers. The Aussie batsman suffered a concussion when he was hit in the neck during the Lord’s Test match. Smith is expected to play in the upcoming Old Trafford Test. Jofra Archer is quick to give his reply on Smith’s statement.
‘Well, I can’t get him out if he wasn’t there. I did want to bowl at him when he came back out at Lord’s but he was out before I even got to come back on. But there’ll be more than ample time to get him out’, Archer said. The bowler added that Smith is a ‘world-class batter’ but he can’t get the Ashes victory all by himself.
‘At the end of the day I’m not saying I won’t get him out but if we don’t get him out there are 10 other people we can get out and if he’s stranded on 40 that’s not helping his team too much to be honest’, Archer added. Marnus Labuschagne replaced Smith in the Lord’s Test match and was also hit on the helmet by Archer’s bouncers.
The Lord’s Test match ended in a draw, with Australia winning the Test match before it. England took the victory in the recent Leeds Test. The upcoming Test at Old Trafford will break the tie of both teams. England (-135.14) has the best odds in winning the upcoming Test match against Australia (+116). If England takes the Ashes victory this year, it will follow their win in the ICC Cricket World Cup last July. Check out the latest cricket odds on other matches and tournaments at Betwala.
