Archer said he thinks Indian bowler Sharma reminds him of himself
England fast bowler Jofra Archer stated that he shared similarities with Indian medium-fast bowler Ishant Sharma after playing with him for Sussex in County Championship.
“Ishant spent last summer with us at Sussex and he pretty much reminds me of myself. He swings the ball in and doesn’t swing it away too much, so I think both of us are the same as he is also tall. So, if I wanted to be an Indian bowler it probably would be Ishant,” said Archer.
Because of the similarities they share, Archer continued that he would like to imbibe some of speedster Sharma’s qualities.
Sharma is not part of the 15-man squad playing for World Cup but he is a standby player in case of injuries acquired in the tournament.
Archer, who has achieved over 1000 runs and 130 wickets in first class cricket, also praised Indian Premier League because it helped him improve his skills.
“It really has to be the most people I have played in front of. More people than Big Bash, BPL, etc. I think it really challenges your skills as there is a lot of pressure and you have a lot of quality players and you can’t take anything for granted,” he stated.
England will open the ICC Cricket World Cup today against South Africa at The Oval.
