Australia Still in High Spirits in the Face of Ellyse Perry Blow

Australia continues to be undeterred by the loss of star all-rounder Ellyse Perry due to a high-grade hamstring injury.

The Australia players mounted their flight to Sydney in high spirits as the pilot welcomed the celebrated group of guests on board. They were further greeted with a spirited round of applause from fellow passengers on the Qantas flight from Melbourne to Sydney.

Reciprocating the lengthy ovation for one of Australia's most successful sports teams, star wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy grinned widely as she motioned a victory sign in jest from her aisle seat.

During this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup, the home team has taken the spotlight with their highly anticipated knockouts. This consist of a thrilling win in a virtual quarter-final against New Zealand that secured Australia's place in the semi-finals.

However, their recent victory came with a blow. By the time the team boarded their flight, news from the Australia camp confirmed that Perry was ruled out of the remainder of their title defence due to her sustained injury.

In spite of this, the squad was not deterred as there was little sign of anything but their usual selves throughout their flight to Sydney.

‘It surely must have affected them, but I loved how they seemed to be in good spirits, all of them - lovely and very confident. It was great to serve such an established bunch of athletes’, two of the flight attendants, Justine Hughes and Bibi Khaleel told reporters.

The Australian squad (-312.5) will go against South Africa (+255) on March 5th. For more reliable cricket odds, head over to Betwala.
