Batsman Babar Azam is excited to do his duties as vice-captain
Pakistan batsman Babar Azam expressed his excitement for his first vice-captain duties for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. Just recently, the PCB announced that Azam will assume the role of vice-captain in the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka in Pakistan.
The Pakistan cricket team is going to be captained by Sarfaraz Ahmed with Babar Azam as his deputy.
‘I can’t thank enough for the love and respect I have received from all my fans in the early days of my career’, said Azam.
‘Friday will be one of my biggest days when I will take the field as Pakistan vice-captain, I will want the entire country as well as the National Stadium crowd to make this a day to remember for me’.
Hosting the upcoming Sri Lanka tour is a special event for Pakistan cricket. Since the attack on Sri Lankan players in 2009, cricket playing nations refuse to play cricket in Pakistan.
Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-Ul- Haq requested the cricket world to support more home matches in Pakistan to bring back the old cricket in the country.
‘Pakistan is a cricket-loving country and it would be an injustice to deprive them of international cricket, so I hope that the world will support us more and more’.
‘It's a special moment for all of us and players are excited as well as emotional, playing before their home fans and at home ground, so it's really special’, added Misbah.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan will begin their ODI match tomorrow, September 27, at National Stadium, Karachi.
