Azam became the second fastest to reach 3000 ODI runs after Amla
Pakistan batsman Babar Azam became the second fastest to reach 3,000 one-day international (ODI) runs when they played against New Zealand in Edgbaston on Wednesday. The Shaheens won by six wickets with their 241 with 4 in 49.1 overs.
Azam achieved the milestone in his 68th innings when they chased after New Zealand’s 237 with 6 in 50 overs. He scored second after South Africa batsman Hashim Amla who reached 3,000 ODI runs in his 57 innings. Azam also became player-of-the-match in their game against Black Caps because of his 101 score.
Pakistan’s next match is against Afghanistan on Saturday at Headingley Carnegie. The Shaheens currently have -667 odds to win the game while the minnows have +490 odds.
