Somerset has confirmed the return of Pakistan player Babar Azam on their side for the upcoming T20 Blast.
Babar Azam is currently in the UK to play with the Pakistan team for a Test and T20I series. After the said tour, Somerset will see Azam’s return from September 2 up until October 4 for the upcoming season of the T20 Blast.
Azam said, ‘I really enjoyed playing for Somerset last year and I can't wait to get back to the Club. For obvious reasons, this year has been very different from what we were all expecting, and I fully appreciate the challenges the game has faced globally as well as here in England’.
‘We have all had to adapt and I'm just really pleased that we could find a way to make this happen. I hope that I can help to contribute to success on the field for Somerset again’, he added.
As Azam had confirmed his return, so did Somerset’s director of cricket Andy Hurry. As what Hurry had stated, Azam is a great player who fits well into the team. He also stated that they consider him to be their own and that they are really looking forward to working with him again.
Last year, Azam is the highest run-getter of Somerset with a total of 578 runs at an average of 52.54. To learn more about Somerset and the other T20 Blast Leagues, head over to Betwala.
