Pakistan batsman Babar Azam goes past Kohli in ODI
Pakistan vice-captain and batsman Babar Azam went past Kohli as the third-fastest batsman to score 11 ODI centuries. The right-handed batsman scored his 11th hundred during an ODI match against Sri Lanka on Monday.
Azam is also the top batsman during T20 championship when he played for Somerset. He finished his amazing feat with 578 runs in 13 innings.
‘The secret is that I give 100% while preparing myself for matches, be it net practice or training in gym’, said Azam.
‘And, when I am in middle for batting, I try to give my 200%’, he added.
His record puts him behind Saeed Anwar and Mohammad Yousuf in the ODI rankings.
Azam is on his way to becoming one of Pakistan’s best batsmen.The 24-year-old said that his focus isn’t winning records.
‘I am only focused on my game, I target match by match performance without aiming for any record’.
‘Records are never on my mind. I usually get to know about them after my innings’.
‘My job in the middle is to play till the end and let other batsmen accelerate around me, but I change my game according to the situation. I will continue playing my game the way I play’.
Pakistan’s next match with Sri Lanka is scheduled tomorrow, October 2, 2019. After the third ODI, the teams will play three sets of T20I.
