Sri Lankan all-rounder Isuru Udana has been ruled out of the third T20I after hurting his back in an attempt to stop the ball.
Isuru Udana, Sri Lanka’s 31-year-old all-rounder, had injured himself while attempting to stop the ball during the second T20I against India. Udana immediately hobbled off the field and was no longer able to return to take the ball.
‘Look, I'm no doctor. He was in a hell of a lot of pain in the dressing room. What the diagnosis is I honestly don't know. I just hope we can get him back for the West Indies series’, says Sri Lanka coach Mickey Arthur.
Udana’s injury is a blow to Sri Lanka’s chances of winning, given the fact that he is one of the team’s strongest T20 bowlers. Although the extent of his accident is still unknown, he was ruled out to let him recover on the back injury that he encountered.
The team is aiming for a stronger performance in their upcoming matches even without Udana on their team. Even so, Sri Lanka is still motivated to win this series against the Indian team whom they have not defeated for more than ten years.
The standing between India and Sri Lanka is currently 1-0 after having the first T20I abandoned due to the heavy rains in Guwahati. This time, Sri Lanka is more than eager to make it 1-1 in their next match to be held in Pune.
The next match will be held on January 10 where the odds are -500 for India and +380 for Sri Lanka. To check the odds of other upcoming matches, head over to Betwala.
