The Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to extend the contract of their winning coach Naveed Nawaz for three more years.
Naveed Nawaz has coached the Bangladesh team in the Under-19 World Cup where the team has bagged the championship. He was the team’s head coach since 2018 and due to his good and effective performance, the BCB has decided to extend his contract for three more years along with conditioning coach Richard Stonier.
As per BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury, ‘We had taken the decision earlier that we will continue to work with those who were involved with our Under-19 World Cup squad considering they have done a great job. They did a great job. They brought a trophy like World Cup for Bangladesh Cricket. We had a plan to keep everyone and as part of that plan, we have extended the contract’.
Nawaz is a former cricket player former player of Sri Lanka and has also worked as their coach from 2009 to 2014. After then, he was a part of the Emerging Players Squad in 2014 to 2015 just before he shared his talent with the BCB. Stonier, on the other hand, is a physical trainer for different T20 leagues. In fact, he had used to work with the Lahore Qalandars of the Pakistan Super League before he worked with BCB.
