The new line-up of Bangladesh for the upcoming three-match series against Zimbabwe has been finalized.
It was reported that Afif Hossain and Mohammad Naim will play for the first two ODIs while Mashrafe Mortaza also returns and will lead the squad after missing the last ODI series due to an injury.
Mortaza was ranked as one of the world’s most famous athlete and was also regarded as one of the fastest bowlers of Bangladesh. Aside from being a cricketer, he is also a politician who won a seat in the parliament in 2018.
‘It is great to have Mortaza back as his experience and leadership is vital to our one-day cricket', Minhajul Abedin stated, the Chairman of the National Selection Panel.
On the other hand, Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Shafiul Islam also join the squad for the opening two ODIs.
‘There are many changes as we have selected this squad taking the future into consideration. We played the last ODIs long time ago and now the complexion of the team has changed quite a bit due to various reasons like some were performing while others failed to do the same as per our expectations’, Abedin added.
