Advanced intelligence teams assigned by the BCB will arrive before the team to ensure their safety during the tour.
Nazmul Hasan, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s president told that he is sending four additional advanced intelligence team to Pakistan in the upcoming match series of Bangladesh. ‘We did not have any discussion on this (in the just concluded International Cricket Council meeting in Dubai). An intelligence team will travel to Pakistan to assess the security and based on the report we will take a decision’, Hasan said.
It was told that the intelligence team will arrive in Pakistan before the arrival of the team. Aside from the additional intelligence security, the team will also be assisted by the National Security Intelligence (NSI) on the whole duration of their tour.
Security concerns have been raised after several teams decided not to stay for more than seven days. Under the new agreement, Bangladesh will play two Tests, three T20Is, and an ODI but will not stay more than a week. ‘We will ensure best preparation from our side. I am trying for that. We did not want to discuss about the security now. There were some concerns raised. There is nothing to worry about. The tension is about playing. Performing naturally isn't easy if you are worried about something else. So it is hard to play cricket if you are not mentally at peace. And T20I is a high-intensity game. The game could change any moment. So, I told them to play without worries. I will stay with them’, Hasan added.
The 1st T20I will start on January 24 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the 2nd T20I will be on January 25, while the 3rd T20I will be on January 27. To learn more about cricket formats, check out Betwala’s page.
