BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the two-match T20Is against Ireland which begins on 26th June. Hardik Pandya has been named the captain while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named vice-captain for the series.
Maharashtra right-hand batter Rahul Tripathi has been given a maiden call up as a reward for his impressive performances in the recently concluded IPL.
Sanju Samson, who guided Rajasthan Royals to the IPL final a couple of weeks ago, makes a return to the T20I team after being left out of the on-going series against South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav is also returning after recovering from an injury.
Dinesh Karthik, who has made a comeback in the Indian team after nearly three years, has also been named in the squad. There are three designated keepers in the squad – Karthik, Samson and Ishan Kishan. But in all likeliness Karthik will keep the wickets.
Apart from the inclusion of Tripathi, and the return of Samson and Yadav, the rest of the squad is mostly similar to the one that is playing the ongoing series against South Africa, while India trail 1-2.
