The BCCI best believes that it is best to postpone the World Test Championship due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Despite having India at the top of the points table of the World Test Championship, the BCCI suggested that the WTC would best be postponed amid COVID-19. The suggestion was made after all of its members agreed that the entire Future Tour Programmes (FTP) until 2023 would need to be reviewed thoroughly.
However, the ICC may not decide too quickly with regards to the situation as the BCCI is the only cricket board which thinks that the WTC be suspended. Some, however, were a bit confused as to why the BCCI secretary made the call midway into the league.
The WTC follows a two-year cycle with a maximum of 120 points per series. Not all teams have played the same number of matches compared to India. In fact, some teams like the West Indies and Bangladesh have only played one series.
Still, the ICC will have to wait until October until the fate of the T20 World Cup will be finalized before deciding their call on the WTC and the ODI league. To learn more about cricket formats, visit Betwala.
