BCCI is releasing a new initiative which will focus on the injury and workload management of their domestic players.
Before, there was hardly ever a program of the BCCI which concerned mainly about the injury and workload management of their domestic players. However, things started to change when the board started to collect some injury-related data of their domestic players so that they can monitor their workloads.
With the initiative of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), a web conference was held for all the physios in the country to discuss all the match data which had been collected in the last Ranji Trophy season.
As per a senior state-team physiotherapist who attended the meeting, ‘The main motto of this initiative is injury surveillance. Players will have more faith and confidence in our domestic physios. It's a process which will surely give us result in future’.
‘The states will also have to think about having proper bench strength in the fast-bowling department to preserve talented pacers. If it is mismanaged, we might lose a good talent. By the time a fast bowler reaches the highest level, he should have optimum fitness levels. The data will also help in judging injury patterns’, he added.
He also said that there is so much more to consider in India’s domestic level of cricket. Aside from the Ranji Trophy and the country's famous IPL, there are also ODIs and T20Is which need to be considered properly.
