Ben Stokes lands in UAE and has undergone his first COVID-19 test in preparation for IPL 2020.
Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes had landed in UAE and has already started his six-day quarantine. After having undergone his first COVID-19 test, he is already expected to be a part of the match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
As per a team official, ‘He started his quarantine phase as soon as he reached the hotel, He will have his first test today and the six-day period ending the day we play against Delhi Capitals in Sharjah, we are looking at him playing against SRH. It will also help him get back into the groove as he has been off the field for some time’.
Clarifying Stokes’ unavailability for the October 9 match against the Delhi Capitals, the same official added, ‘His quarantine period ends that day. So he comes out and joins the team the next day, which is October 10’.
Stokes missed out the kick-off of the league as he stayed with his ailing father back in Christchurch, New Zealand. Fans then knew that he was coming as the official Twitter account of the Rajasthan Royals tweeted a picture of Stokes in a flight. The caption for the said tweet was ‘Stoked’ accompanied with a smiley and an aeroplane emoji.
Prior to his flight, Stokes also made an Instagram post of pictures with his family with a caption that read, ‘Goodbyes never get easier’. Upon arrival, in UAE, he also posted several Instagram stories where one read ‘Dubai is hot’. The other pictures he had posted were his hotel room and the nearby golf area seen outside his window.
Before Stokes can play on October 11 against SRH, the team will have two more games without the 29-year-old English player. Aside from the October 9 game against the Delhi Capitals, the team will also have one more game in October. There, the odds are -156.26 for the Mumbai Indians and +118 for the Rajasthan Royals.
