Beuran Hendricks becomes the newest name on the contracted player list of South Africa for the 2020-2021 season.
Beuran Hendricks made his Test debut last January in a match against England. With South Africa’s recent release of contracts, Hendricks becomes the only first-time recipient of a national contract this time.
Five months prior to his Test debut, Hendricks also played well in a T20 series against India which ended up as a draw. Today, he has officially become a part of the Proteas squad.
Meanwhile, Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, and Rassie van der Dussen all earned contract upgrades as they became part of South Africa’s 16-man list. Former captain Faf du Plessis also remains to be a part of the squad even after Quinton de Kock has replaced him on his spot.
Some players who had been dropped from the contract list were Dale Steyn, Theunis de Bruyn, and retired players Hashim Amla and Vernon Philander.
The new contract released by Cricket South Africa will cover several matches like the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia, some home series against Sri Lanka, Australia, and Pakistan, as well as some away tours to West Indies and Sri Lanka.
