Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out from the remainder of IPL 2020 due to a serious thigh muscle injury.
In the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s game against the Chennai Super Kings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had limped off after just one ball. Due to that thigh injury which he had incurred, Kumar might miss out the upcoming Indian tour of Australia after being ruled out from IPL 2020.
It was during the 19th over of CSK’s chase when Kumar hobbled off the field after just one delivery. With that, it was Khaleel Ahmed who filled up his shoes by taking over the remainder of his over.
As per a senior BCCI official who wished to remain unknown, ‘Bhuvneshwar Kumar is out of IPL with a thigh muscle injury. It is probably a grade 2 or 3 injury, which could mean that he would be out for at least 6 to 8 weeks. It might effectively rule him out of India’s tour of Australia’.
‘The support staff was keeping a tab on his injury, but unfortunately, he has been ruled out. He is an integral part of the team and his absence will be a big blow’, another source added.
Kumar has been featured in the first four games of the season after having picked up three wickets at an average of 6.98. Despite having many bowling reserves, the fact that Kumar has been ruled out is a huge blow to SRH. Despite having won against CSK, the team lost against the Mumbai Indians and had remained to be on the second half of the points table of the league.
The 30-year-old player is no longer new to injuries as he had also missed out 5 games in IPL 2018. That same year, he also missed out on India’s tour of England and had returned midway. He also managed to take a rest during the West Indies tour of India that same year.
Still, the team has yet to determine a replacement for Kumar for their upcoming games. So far, the odds for the team’s upcoming match on October 8 are -128.21 for them and -104.17 for the Kings XI Punjab. To see the odds of other upcoming matches, check out Betwala.
