Recently, Kumar suffered a sports hernia after a T20I series against West Indies.
Last January 9, Bhuvneshwar Kumar travelled to London with Yogesh Parmer -- the physiotherapist of the India Cricket Team. Kumar underwent successful surgery last Saturday, January 11.
Now, Kumar is set for a rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
The hernia was Kumar’s latest injury in a series of accidents, since the Johannesburg Test in 2018, where he was named the Man of the Match. After the injury, Kumar’s future matches were postponed.
For a period of time after the incident, he was mostly reliant on whether he should undergo a surgical procedure -- which is the usual solution for a sports hernia.
In other news, Prithvi Shaw -- the opening batsman for the India Cricket Team recently completed his rehabilitation at the NCA for his left-shoulder injury. He has departed to New Zealand for an A series.
Currently, the India cricket team is in the middle of hosting a home series against Australia. Australia is leading the ODI series with a score of 1-0, after winning the first of the three scheduled matches.
