Chris Gayle Reaches New T20 Record in CPL

The Universe Boss reached a new milestone as Jamaica Tallawahs earned their first win of the season

Veteran batsman Chris Gayle set a new T20 record during his side’s match against Barbados Tridents on September 15. He became the first cricketer to complete 13,000 runs in Twenty20 cricket. His team, Jamaica Tallawahs won by four wickets against the Tridents.

The Tallawahs restricted the Tridents to 140 for 9 after the spinners produced aggressive attacks from the beginning of the match. George Worker dismissed Alex Hales and Johnson Charles. Worker finished two for 16. Meanwhile, Ramaal Lewis restricted the opposing team’s middle order and finished two for 23.

Tallawahs captain Chadwick Walton struck five sixes and a four in his score of 42-ball 51. He was adjudged as Player of the Match. 

Ashely Nurse of the Tridents is the top-scorer of his side. He scored an astonishing 18-ball 37. Left-hander JP Duminy struggled during the match in his 31 which required 35 deliveries. 

The Carribean Premier League began on September 4 with a match between Trinibago Knight Riders and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
