He praised the performance of the English allrounder on Leeds Test
Ben Stokes’ unbeaten 135 in the recent Leeds Test against Australia set England’s first win in the Ashes series this year. Paul Sinha is one of the people who praised Stokes for his performance. The 49-year-old comedian revealed earlier this year that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He recently wrote on his blog about Stokes and the Leeds Test.
Sinha wrote that Stokes’ performance in the Leeds Test brought his excitement back for the sport. He described the last day of the Leeds Test as ‘a day’s cricket that managed to make the Greatest World Cup Final Ever seem like an ephemeral irrelevance in comparison’.
The comedian also believed that England’s win in the Leeds Test is because of bad umpiring and captaincy. He praises Stokes’ skill and determination in the game as well. Sinha further stated that the allrounder helped him forget his aches and weaknesses.
Ben Stokes is also England’s key player in the recent ICC Cricket World Cup. He is expected to play in the upcoming Test match against Australia. The fourth Test of this year’s Ashes series will be held at Old Trafford in Manchester, England. It will run from September 4 to 9. Australia won opening Test match of the series and the second Test ended with a draw. The odds are for England (-131.58) to win this year’s Ashes series against Australia (+112).
