The sixteen-year-old was named to two teams: Pakistan and their U19 2020 World Cup and the Senior Side’s Test team.
Naseem Shah, Pakistan’s cricket prodigy, has been making the headlines after being named to Pakistan’s Test team that will play against Australia. His performance with the ball has him being compared to former greats. The fact that he is just sixteen years old speaks a lot about his capability with the ball.
He played extremely well during a practise match prior to the series. However, he couldn’t repeat the successes he had when he made his debut at the Gabba. The right-handed prodigy bowled in just 20 overs. In those, he took the wicket of David Warner. He was then benched in the next game due to injuries.
He was named in Pakistan’s U19 2020 World Cup squad. However, he was also included in the senior team’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. This led to him being removed from the U19 team. ‘Two reserve pacers have already been named in the camp and if Naseem is required for national duty he will be replaced as he can’t play for both the senior and junior teams’, a report said.
Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in two Tests beginning December 11 which will then be followed by three ODIs against the Netherlands. To find out more about Pakistan and other nation’s upcoming matches, visit Betwala’s page.
