The 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League will take place in Trinidad and Tobago starting from August 18 until September 20.
The Caribbean Premier League will be the first T20 League to kick-off after the long COVID-19 break that the sports industry has taken. In conjunction with the authorities and with the approval of the Trinidad and Tobago government, a go signal has already been given to the CPL 2020.
Like any other cricket matches, the game will be held behind closed doors from August 18 to September 20 with some strict guidelines to ensure the safety of all. With that, everyone who will enter Trinidad and Tobago will have to undergo some COVID-19 tests prior to their flight schedules and upon their arrival.
As per the CPL committee, ‘Teams and officials will be put into "households" where social distancing will need to be in place. There will be smaller clusters within each household where these measures can be relaxed. However, if any member of this cluster display signs of COVID-19 at any time during the tournament all members of that cluster will be expected to self-isolate for a period of 14 days from the time that a member of that group first shows symptoms’.
