South African player Dale Steyn talks about his favourite player, his thoughts about the COVID-19 situation, and who he wants to be quarantined with.
Dale Steyn just got back from Pakistan after playing for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League which got postponed. In an interview, Steyn talked about how their team was put into some kind of hotel arrest as part of the safety measures against COVID-19.
As he had stated, everything had escalated in just a matter of 24-48 hours with regards to the spread of the virus. From having nobody talking about the virus, everyone suddenly had hand sanitizers with them to ensure their safety.
Asked about his thoughts about the COVID-19 situation, Steyn shared that he is currently staying in with his mom and his girlfriend in a beach house away from the city. He also shared that he definitely thinks that stockpiling is not the right way to deal with the situation. In fact, he told the interviewers how they went to the grocery store and found out that people had bought all the toilet papers.
If he was to watch cricket matches during the quarantine, the 36-year-old player shared how he’s most interested to watch the World Cup matches of 1992, 1996, and 1999. This is because of the fact that he had been exposed to the sport in those years.
Steyn also revealed that AB de Villiers is his favourite cricket player. Aside from that, he described de Villiers as an incredible batter and a good friend. Meanwhile, ‘The Steyn Gun’ exposed the fact that it was South African captain Quinton de Kock who he’d love to be stuck in quarantine with.
‘He is one of my favourite people in the world. If you walk into his (hotel) room, he's either making flies for fishing or he is watching a fishing video or he is watching a cooking video. And when you are at his house, he's doing the same stuff. I hate cooking, so it would be great if he was. Because then I could watch all the fishing videos that he's watching, I could help him do all the tying, and he could cook all the food. He's a proper cook’, Steyn said.
