Upon resigning from his captaincy, Darren Sammy decided not to leave the team as he becomes the new head coach of Peshawar Zalmi.
Darren Sammy decides to resign as Peshawar Zalmi’s captain and passes the full-time captaincy to Wahab Riaz. He then proceeds to be the new head coach of the team as he replaces Mohammad Akram who now becomes the new director of cricket and new bowling coach.
Despite his resignation, Sammy will still continue to play for the team in the future as Akram had stated in an interview. He also stated that Sammy had been with the team for five seasons and he’d still be a part of the team lineup but as of now, he had to be the head coach first.
Meanwhile, Sammy advised the other players to continue giving out their best performance for the team. Aside from that, he expressed his gratitude to the team management and the coaches as he stated how he wanted to perform his new role for the team.
Sammy also believes that he’s no longer in his best form to play the game for the past two years. After having captained the team on 39 occasions, the 36-year-old player believes that it’s time for him to lead the team on a different role.
The team is set to face against Islamabad United at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on March 7. The odds of the game are +102 for Peshawar Zalmi and -131.58 for Islamabad United as a part of the Pakistan Super League tournaments. For more credible odds, head over to Betwala.
