MSK believes that Dhoni is still the best at what he does and his methods should not be questioned.
India’s selectors found it difficult to find a player to replace MS Dhoni after he announced that he will be taking a short break from cricket. There was a lot of confusion whether Dhoni would retire or not. Following his subpar performance in the World Cup, many expected him to retire. However, he decided to serve in the army as a break from cricket.
MSK Prasad, chairman of the selection committee and also a former wicket-keeper, said that Dhoni will know what the right call is and when to make that call. He continued and said that he is still the best finisher and keeper that India has in the limited-over formats of the game.
He also defended Dhoni’s slow batting during the World Cup. People were quick to point out his batting position had always changed throughout the tournament and that this could have caused him to dip in performance.
“I can clearly say this that till today MS [Dhoni] is the best gloveman and finisher in India in the shorter formats. The others are still work in progress. MS was a big strength to this team in the World Cup both as a batsman and keeper, apart from sharing his vast experience with the team and captain while taking on-field decisions,” said Prasad.
