Dimuth Karunaratne will once again lead the 15-member squad of The Lions in a home ODI series against the West Indies.
Dimuth Karunaratne is set to captain the Sri Lankan team once more for their upcoming ODI series against the West Indies after former captain Lahiru Thirimanne has been dropped. Thirimanne had been excluded from the lineup after only contributing a total of 36 runs in two games which The Lions had both lost.
The Sri Lankan skipper’s return as a captain marked not only his comeback but the return of several players as well. Some players who once made it back to the 15-man squad are Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Thisara Perera, and Angelo Mathews. Aside from that, wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella was also recalled to make another ODI appearance after a year.
With some players’ comeback to the team comes several players who had also been unincluded in the lineup. Some of them are former captain Lahiru Thirimanne, Minod Bhanuka, Oshada Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Sadeera, Samarawickrama, and Angelo Perera.
