Duke of Sussex subtly tells off Australia and Sri Lanka captains
The Duke of Sussex commented on Australian captain Aaron Finch’s age during a Royal Garden Party hosted by Queen Elizabeth II. This was held before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 started and the royal family met the ten captains.
“You’re getting on a bit now, aren’t you? How long have you been playing?” asked Prince Harry when he met the 32-year old current captain of his nation’s rival cricket team.
Finch took this in with good nature when they exchanged smiles and only answered that he had been playing for eight years at the highest level of cricket.
The Prince asked the rest of the captains on who they think are favoured to win and who was confident in their team’s chances of bagging the trophy.
However, things did not go well when he met Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne because he told the captain to enjoy the tournament otherwise they should not be participating.
“Enjoy it, if you’re not going to enjoy it, you might as well not be here,” said the Duke to Karunaratne.
The World Cup started yesterday with England playing against South Africa.
