The final was supposed to be a day-night cricket event
The Duleep Trophy final kicked off in the morning of September 4 and confused many people as it started in the daytime. A few weeks ago, the BCCI stated that the final will be a day-night cricket event. The players did not know that the final was going to be played in the morning as well. ‘I have no clue...when did all of this change, but I got to know of it only two days earlier’, one player said.
BCCI Head of Operations Saba Karim commented about the minor issue on the first day of the final. ‘I don’t know what the confusion is. We never said it was going to be a day-night game. All we said was that it was going to be telecast live on TV. And even the players knew of it all along’, said Karim. This is despite BCCI’s early claim that states otherwise. An operations staff of the Indian board also said that they were informed about the change only a few days before the final. Meanwhile, KSCA, the organiser of the game, stated that they were aware of it all along.
The 2019-20 Duleep Trophy final continues until September 9. Teams India Green and India Red play in the tournament’s final. The Duleep Trophy is one of India’s top cricket competitions right now. Another one of India’s top cricket competitions is the Indian Premier League (IPL). The BCCI hosts these events along with a few others. Find out more about IPL at Betwala.
