Dwayne Bravo is named part of the West Indies squad for the three-match T20I series against Ireland.
Bravo’s last match was a T20I in 2016, and has since retired from international cricket in October two years after. On top of that, Rovman Powell was also recalled to be part of the West Indies.
Now, the West Indies squad is composed of captain, Kieron Pollard and teammates, Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Khary Pierre, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Lendl Simmons, Hayden Walsh Jr, Kesrick Williams.
Selector, Roger Harper said that Bravo was recalled to improve the death bowling. He stated, ‘Dwayne Bravo was recalled with the specific intention of bolstering our "death" bowling which was identified as an area that really needs improving. His record in this department speaks for itself. He will also be able to act as a mentor to the other "death" bowlers and lend his experience wherever needed’.
He then continued, ‘Rovman Powell is a genuine all-rounder who we believe can add impetus and up the strike rate at the back-end of the innings. He was excellent in the Colonial Medical Insurance Super50 Cup - where he scored two excellent centuries and a 96 and also had some other good performances’.
The West Indies and Ireland will meet in Grenada on January 15 and will continue the following two matches in St Kitts on January 18 and 19.
