Chennai Super Kings Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of IPL 2020 due to a groin injury.
Chennai Super Kings allrounder Dwayne Bravo had sustained a groin injury in their game against the Delhi Capitals held last October 17. With that, he had officially been ruled out of the entirety of IPL 2020.
This has been confirmed by CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan who said, ‘Bravo is ruled out with a groin injury. He will fly out tomorrow. The team management will decide if we need a replacement’.
In the said game played against the Delhi Capitals, Bravo had only been able to bowl three overs as he had already picked up the injury prior to his fourth over. With that, CSK had to use Ravindra Jadeja for the 20th over as the Capitals still needed 17 for them to win. However, Jadeja ended up being hit for three sixes by Axar Patel.
The way Bravo had been ruled out is a huge blow to the team who had already struggled prior to the start of the season. Having Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad testing positive for COVID-19, the quarantine period of the team had to be extended, thus affecting their preparations.
Aside from having COVID-19 positive players, the team also encountered problems when their players Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh had also decided to opt out of the game after having cited personal reasons.
This is not the first time that Bravo missed out an IPL match for CSK. In fact, he had also managed to skip out the initial matches due to another injury which he had sustained during the Caribbean Premier League. With that, he had only managed to bat twice this season and have a total of seven runs.
So far, CSK is at the bottom of the points table after having won three out of their ten matches. With a slim chance of making it to the playoffs, the next match of the team is to be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on the 23rd. The odds for the said game are +123 for CSK and -166.67 for Mumbai Indians. To know the odds of other upcoming matches, visit Betwala.
