The English team still has its doors open for Jonny Bairstow even after he had been left out of their recent lineup.
England has recently revealed their 13-man squad for their upcoming match against the West Indies. Upon the release of the list, it was seen by the fans that Jonny Bairstow had been left out of the lineup along with Moeen Ali.
Bairstow was a part of England’s 30-man training group in Southampton but was not chosen for the actual lineup after it was observed that he somehow needed to level up his red-ball game. After then, he had been replaced by Ben Foakes who was another wicket-keeper like Bairstow.
As per chief selector Ed Smith, ‘No one doubts he's a very good cricketer across formats for England. No doors are closed for Jonny. We're fully aware of what he can do in Test cricket, and of course, we're fully aware of his talent in all forms of the game. It's also the case that we are where we were’.
‘I wouldn't make any presumptions about Jonny Bairstow, in terms of anything being blocked for Jonny. There's a wide understanding of how good Jonny is when he's at his best, and that's not going to be forgotten. Jonny's a very talented player, and has played some very fine innings across England formats’, he added.
To date, the English squad is busy preparing for their three-Test match series against West Indies which will start on July 8 at the Ageas Bowl. To know the odds of their match, stay updated with Betwala.
