Getkate Joins Ireland for the Upcoming T20I Series

Shane Getkate replaces Mark Adair who sustained an ankle injury during a previous match.

Shane Getkate, a right-handed all-rounder replaces Mark Adair who is still recovering from an ankle injury for the upcoming three-match T20I series of Ireland against Afghanistan. It was also announced that Getkate is the only additional member of the squad.

‘The squad that performed so well in the recent West Indies series will get another opportunity to show what they can offer, against familiar but formidable opponents in this format of the game’, Andrew White stated, the Chairman of Selectors.

‘We are confident that we have selected a well-balanced side, but we will be looking for greater consistency as the year progresses. The last tour gave us an insight into this Irish side's potential - by beating the World Champions in their own backyard, but there is no doubt the players will be keen to show those performances on a more regular basis’, he added.

Getkate is one of the nineteen players who was awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland. He was also named in Ireland’s T20I squad for the Oman Quadrangular Series last year.

Ireland squad: Andrew Balbirnie (c), Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Shane Getkate, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Kevin O'Brien, Boyd Rankin, Simi Singh, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Gary Wilson, Craig Young.

The three-match T20I series will be on March 6, 8, and 10 at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground in Noida. To learn more about T20I, check out Betwala’s page.
