A 16-year-old rookie batswoman from Bengal, Richa Ghosh is chosen to play for the upcoming T20 World Cup Series.
Richa Ghosh, Bengal’s rookie batswoman was able to acquire a spot in the 15-member India women’s squad for the T20 World Cup that will take place in Australia on February 21. Ghosh was the only new face in the squad led by Harmanpreet Kaur due to her outstanding performance.
Ghosh was able to impress the five-member National women’s selection committee in the recent Challenge trophy where she played two important knocks of 25 and 36 in a chase of 149 against India-B. ‘I never thought that this will happen so fast. It's hard to believe and the feeling hasn’t sunk yet’, Ghosh stated.
The Bengal camp celebrated her selection with a cake-cutting ceremony followed by the Cricket Association of Bengal joint secretary Dalmiya wishing her success. ‘A true all-rounder in every sense, Richa is an asset for any team as she can bat, bowl, and keep wickets depending on the requirement of the team. We are confident that she would excel in the global event. Our best wishes are with her’, Dalmiya said.
