Hamish Bennett is included in the 14-man squad led by Kane Williamson for their upcoming five-match T20I series against India.
Bennett will make his T20I debut after almost three years of his last appearance for New Zealand. Yesterday, his name made it to the list of players for the five-match series against India.
New Zealand’s 14-man squad now includes the captain, Kane Williamson and teammates, Hamish Bennett, Martin Guptill, Scott Kuggeleijn, Daryl Mitchell, Colin Munro, Mitchell Santner, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Blair Tickner, Tom Bruce, Colin de Grandhomme.
Bennett was recalled due to the team’s increasing injury crisis. Other than Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson, who suffered injuries from their recent tour of Australia, the team is also missing Matt Henry, Doug Bracewell, Will Young, Adam Milne, Tom Latham and Seth Rance.
Now, Bennett joins the New Zealand cricket team featuring Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijin and Blair Tickner. The two spinners of the squad are Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner. Bennett’s inclusion to the squad is a reward for his form in the current Super Smash T20, according to Chief Selector Gavin Larsen.
