Hardik Pandya is to be replaced on the team tour of India to New Zealand due to his back surgery recovery that is taking longer than expected.
Hardik Pandya has been taking his time to recover from the back surgery that he had undergone. Pandya was selected to be a part of the competing team and was supposed to return to the India A team for the upcoming team tour in New Zealand.
However, Pandya was unable to board the flight with the squad that left for New Zealand. With that, he had already been replaced by Vijay Shankar.
The fact that he had been withdrawn from the team’s line up came as a setback for Pandya who was so optimistic that he’ll be able to have his comeback. In order to prepare for his comeback, the 28-year-old all-rounder would need to secure a clearance about his fitness first.
S. Rajnikanth, Pandya’s trainer, says that Hardik is undoubtedly 100% fit for the game. However, safety precautions are being taken for the player who just recovered from surgery. Hardik’s trainer also said that he would not want him to take the workload of back-to-back international matches yet.
Meanwhile, Vijay Shankar has already been sent out to New Zealand with the whole India A team.
Even without Pandya, the cricket odds still seem to be in favour of the Indian team. The odds for the match are -144.93 for India and +124 for Australia. To know the odds of other upcoming matches, head over to Betwala.
