The Captain of the Indian Womens Cricket Team, Harmanpreet Kaur, is on the verge of achieving another huge milestone in her career. She is only 45 runs short of becoming the highest run-scorer for Indian Womens Cricket team in the T20I format.
Currently, former India cricketer and captain Mithali Raj is India’s highest-run scorer in T20Is with 2364 in 89 matches at an average of 37.52, including 17 half-centuries. Kaur has 2319 runs from 121 matches at an average of 26.35 and a strike rate of 103.
India’s next assignment is a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, where Kaur will have the opportunity to go past Raj’s tally. The three games will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka on June 23, 25, and 27.
The all-rounder has been one of India’s most consistent performer over several years. Kaur made her international debut in 2009 in an ODI against Pakistan. She has so far played 118 games in the format, from which she has an average of 35.50, including four centuries and 15 fifties.
Recently, Kaur was named the ODI captain after Raj called it quits following India’s 2022 Women’s World Cup campaign in New Zealand.
