Hendrick returns to the squad for the remaining T20Is against the Aussies.
Reeza Hendricks joined South Africa for the 2nd T20I against Australia yesterday and for the upcoming 3rd T20I. Hendricks is a right-handed middle-order batsman who became the first player to score a century in three franchise competitions of the Proteas. He was also named as the ‘Man of the Match’ during his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2018.
At the same time, Temba Bavuma and Heinrich Klaasen have been ruled out of the squad due to an injury. Bavuma was originally part of the squad but was diagnosed with a right hamstring strain while Klaasen sustained a right hip injury during a warm-up session. ‘Both Bavuma and Klaasen will continue to be treated and will be reassessed ahead of the start of the second match’, Cricket of South Africa (CSA) stated.
The 2nd T20I match held at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth ended with a match won by the Proteas with a total of 12 runs. Meanwhile, the 3rd T20I will be on February 26 at Newlands in Cape Town. Both teams will once again chase down their victory in the upcoming ODI series on February 29, March 4, and 7.
