ICC wants Team India to follow tournament mixed media zone protocol
The International Cricket Council (ICC) have written a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and their team management about following tournament protocol of sending team players to a mixed media zone after a match. ICC have also informed Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri about this problem.
This comes after India’s warm-up match 4 against New Zealand where they lost to the Kiwis by six wickets. Only a few Kiwis attended a mixed media zone after the match while no Men in Blue player participated.
ICC is worried that India’s non-participation would cause other teams to not participate in a mixed media zone after games.
India’s team management announced they would spare a few of their players following their match against South Africa on June 5 for a mixed media interaction.
This World Cup mixed media zone practice started in the 2017 Champions Trophy and has been continued in other major international tournaments.
