Imam-ul-Haq said he is excited to face Mitchell Starc ahead of match
Pakistan batsman Imam-ul-Haq said Australian bowler Mitchell Starc is not a threat ahead of their match tomorrow.
“Starc isn’t a threat,” said Imam. “In fact I am excited over the prospect of facing him. Same was said about Archer and Wood but we played them with confidence.”
“I have played (against Kagiso) Rabada and Dale Steyn in more difficult conditions in South Africa,” continued Imam, referring to his team’s tour of South Africa earlier this year. Imam achieved 271 runs including a century in the five matches of that one-day international (ODI) series.
He continued that he prepares for the ICC Cricket World Cup matches according to his strengths and not his opponent bowlers’ strengths.
“You can’t say a bowler is threatening,” Imam stated. “I try to prepare according to my strengths instead of bowlers’ strengths. I don’t think like that, because you need to beat top teams if you want to play the World Cup final.”
Pakistan will be playing against Australia tomorrow at County Ground, Taunton. They currently have odds of +210 of winning the game while Australia has -256.
