After suffering a landslide defeat to Australia in their recent tour, Pakistan looks as if they have lost their fighting spirit.

When people hear the words ‘Australia’ and ‘cricket’ in one sentence, it scares them, especially cricket players. Australia has always been known as one of the most dominant teams in cricket. As proof of this, they won their series against Pakistan; it was a one-sided affair for the most part. They made life miserable for Pakistani batsmen and devastated the Men in Green’s bowling attacks. They made Pakistan look like a team that didn’t know what they were doing.

Pakistan didn’t pose a threat to Australia as they lost both the T20 and Test series. Babar Azam was the only player who had okay numbers with consistent runs throughout the competition. After suffering a soul-crushing defeat, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders want to re-assess their approach to the games.

Senator Faisal Javed Khan said in an interview that Prime Minister Imran Khan will ‘pay attention to the team after they suffered an ignominy against the Aussies’. He added that the PM could not focus on sports because he was busy with other more important things. The PTI senator said that his party will support the team in their rebuilding process and help solve the problem with a long-term solution.

Faisal also said that appointing Azhar Ali as the Test captain wasn’t the right decision. ‘Appointing Azhar Ali as  Test captain was not the right decision as he has failed in the past’. He noted that Pakistan always suffered heavily to Australia. Despite this, their poor performance in that series wasn’t expected. ‘They lacked enough teeth and firepower to challenge the Aussies and sadly, they couldn’t win even a single game in the tour’.

Pakistan has Sri Lanka as their upcoming opponents and will face them in a two-match Test series at home. To find out more about Pakistan’s upcoming matches, visit Betwala’s page.
