India Cricket Team Attends Unveiling of Virat Kohli Stand

BCCI confirmed that India cricket team will attend the unveiling of the stand named after team captain Virat Kohli.

The Delhi and District Cricket Association announced last August 18 that a stand located in Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium will be named after skipper Virat Kohli. The unveiling of the stand is scheduled on September 12, 2019.

Virat Kohli is the youngest cricketer to have a stand named after him. The committee decided to name a stand for the skipper to recognize his contribution in International cricket. 

‘Kohli outstanding contribution to world cricket has done DDCA proud. We are happy to honour him for achieving certain milestones and unbeatable captaincy record’, said DCDA President Rajat Sharma.

Virender Sehwag and Anjum Chopra are the other cricket players who have stands named after them. 

‘To cherish these memories, we wanted to dedicate a stand in his name. I am sure the "Virat Kohli Stand" will be a source of inspiration for Delhi's young cricketers’, the president added. 

The BCCI confirmed that the India cricket team is going to be present during the rites. A BCCI official said that the team will wear traditional clothes for the unveiling. 

The team is now moving forward to their next assignment for this season. They will play their first home match against South Africa from September to October this year. The teams will play three sets of T20I, ODI, and Test matches. The Test match will mark South Africa’s campaign for the World Test Championship. 

Currently, India is on top of the ICC Test Ranking. 

Virat Kohli will lead India again for South Africa’s tour along with Rohit Sharma as his vice-captain.
