India cricket team unveiled their new team jersey for the South Africa Tour of India. The team jersey now features the team's new sponsor, Byju. Skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma launched the jersey during a press conference before the first T20I match.
‘BYJU’S will be taking over all obligations of the current team sponsor OPPO mobiles India private limited. The BCCI is pleased to welcome India’s leading education and learning app BYJU’S as the official Team India sponsor from 5th September 2019 until 31st March 2022’, said BCCI.
Byju is an online learning company based in Bengaluru. The company replaced India team’s previous sponsor, Oppo.
Byju Raveendran, founder and CEO of Byju, said he is happy to sponsor India cricket team.
‘We are proud to be the Indian Cricket Team sponsor. Cricket is the heartbeat of all Indians and we are thrilled to be an integral part of our much-loved team. As a learning company, BYJU’S has always recognised the critical role that sport plays in a child’s development. Just as cricket inspires a billion budding dreams across India, we too as a learning company hope to inspire the love of learning in every child’s heart’, he said.
Oppo ended their contract with India cricket team after the West Indies tour. The company bid Rs 4.6 crore to bilateral cricket match the team plays, and Rs 1.56 for every ICC tournament match.
India cricket team will sport their new jersey for the South Africa Tour of India. The teams are scheduled to play three sets of ODI, Test, and T20I for the tour.
The first T20I match between India and South Africa ended up in washout because of the persistent rain in Dhamarsala.
