Recently, India wrapped up an ODI series against New Zealand and was whitewashed after a series overall of 3-0.
After a devastating whitewash from the New Zealand team, India is ready to solve some struggles they are currently facing. Here are some problems India needs to address:
Opening Combination
Usually, the partnership of Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma results in one of the highest Test runs for India. However, Sharma was ruled out of the upcoming Test series after sustaining a calf injury. This means the team must find a new opening combination.
Weak pace attack
Typically, India’s pace attack is threatening. However, it is not sure whether Ishant Sharma will join the Test squad. After sustaining an ankle injury during a Ranji Trophy match, he has taken a rest after scans confirmed he sustained a Grade 3 tear in his ankle.
Jasprit Bumrah will play his first Test match since the tour of West Indies in August to September last year. He showed impressive bowling skills and took 13 wickets. However, he sustained a stress fracture on his back and hasn’t played the same.
Due to a series of injuries that have come for the Men in Blue, the team is not quite stable on the field.
The India squad is composed of captain, Virat Kohli and teammates, Ajinkya Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha, Navdeep Saini, Prithvi Shaw, Mohammed Shami, Hanuma Vihari and Umesh Yadav.
The Test series between India and New Zealand will begin next Friday, February 21. If you want the most reliable cricket odds on the upcoming matches between the two teams, check out the Betwala page.
