The Men in Blue were given customised workout routines to keep them in shape despite the long break due to the pandemic.
Despite the long break caused by the global transmission of COVID-19, the Indian team were advised to maintain their bodies and well-beings. With that, the team’s strength and conditioning coach Nick Webb gave the boys an assignment for the long break.
In coordination with the team’s physiologist Nitin Patel, Virat Kohli and the rest of the boys were given customised workout routines to stay in shape.
‘All the players, irrespective of whether they play red-ball cricket or white-ball cricket or all formats have been given fitness routines which they are to follow and give updates to Webb and Patel from time to time’, a source stated.
For example, Kohli loves training with weights that’s why his routine had included the likes of clean and jerk, deadlifts, and the likes. Meanwhile, some players who are more comfortable doing free-hand exercises were given some free-weight functional training options.
As the resumption of the games remains unclear, the only thing that the boys can do now is to stay in shape to be fit enough to play once more. Aside from their matches against other countries, the boys are also looking forward to the IPL which fate remains unsure due to the virus.
The members of the Men in Blue all actively participate in the IPL. To know more about the Indian Premier League and the teams which play under it, head over to Betwala.
