UAE is confirmed to be the host of the 2020 season of the IPL which will take place between September 19 and November 10.
IPL 2020 will be played in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi upon having all necessary clearances signed by the government of India. With that, it is confirmed that this season will be held in UAE from September 19 to November 10. It will be the first time that the finals of the IPL will be held on a weekday.
As per the BCCI’s official statement, ‘The Governing Council also reviewed the Player Regulations for replacement player for 2020 season. The Governing Council also discussed the comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which will be finalised and published in due course, including the agencies to execute and deliver a bio-secure environment for safe and successful conduct of IPL 2020 Season’.
In this season of the IPL, each team will have 24 players, including some substitutes and replacements. Aside from that, other key decisions that had been made for IPL 2020 include having 10-double headers. Also, the matches will start at 19:30 IST instead of the usual 20:00 IST. Afternoon matches, on the other hand, will start on 15:30. Meanwhile, VIVO will also continue to be the primary sponsor of the event.
